Zion.Zion vs Bryce Canyon and where one national parks beats the other: At the end of the day, I’m going to suggest you see both of these amazing parks and even go further to see the other 3 in Utah, but I want to give you a “deep dive” into this topic so you fully understand why I’ve developed this opinion: The reason I’ve visited Zion more than Bryce is because I actually like it there more and while my opinion on this topic is a bit biased, there’s good reasons for it. I’ve been to Bryce Canyon National Park 2 times.I’ve been to Zion National Park 6 times.The highest recorded temperature in Bryce Canyon National Park is 98.1☏ (36.7☌), set on July 14, 2002, while the lowest temperature on record is -27.9☏ (-33.3☌), set on December 10, 1972.7) Last notes on the topic of Bryce vs Zion: The snowfall of 90" (2286mm) occurs from October to May, with a peak accumulation between December and February. The annual precipitation averages 17" (432mm) with a peak in August and a trough in June. The mean daylight varies from 10 to 15 hours during the year. The mean daily sunshine in Bryce Canyon National Park varies from 6 hours in cold December to 11 hours in warm July. Spring and fall have unpredictable weather, snowfall begins in the late fall season and often lasts well until mid-spring. Winters are frigid with the average low temperature of 15.4☏ (-9.2☌) during the coldest month of December, while high temperatures mostly remain below 39.9☏ (4.4☌). July and August receive frequent thunderstorms with heavy bouts of rain. Summers are warm, with the average high temperature peaking at 80.2☏ (26.8☌) in the warmest month of July. The park has a rugged terrain and a varied topography of forests, mountains, and canyons with a vast collection of hoodoos and giant natural amphitheaters. The park has three life zones: lowest elevation forests with pine, juniper, and manzanita, mid-elevations with ponderosa pine, spruce and fir, and the highest areas that consist of fir, aspen, and spruce. The interior location and high altitude of the park creates a unique combination of a mountainous and desert climate.īryce Canyon National Park has an altitude of 2400 to 2700 meters at its rim, which is significantly higher than nearby Zion National Park, and the climate is relatively cooler. It lies in southwestern Utah, within the Colorado Plateau, along the Paunsaugunt Plateau's southeastern corner, just beyond the Paria River. Bryce Canyon National Park has a climate that borders on the marine type (Köppen climate classification Cfb) with moderately hot, dry summers and cold, snowy winters, and scanty rainfall for the majority of the year.
